Pop act 2Baba and rapper MI Abaga have announced that they will headline a forthcoming series of concerts. Named ‘Buckwyld ‘n’ Breathless: The Disruption’, the concerts will hold in Kenya and Nigeria.
The announcement puts an end to weeks of a campaign featuring weird images and quotes on social media with the hashtag #DisruptionAfrica. The concert will see both artists perform in Lagos, Nigeria. Other cities will be announced soon.
According to 2Baba, the group Sauti Sol will start the series of concerts in Nairobi on 11 June. While the Nigerian leg of the concert is to take place on 3 September. Tanzania's Vanessa Mdee is expected to feature as a guest artist.
The Buckwyld ‘n’ Breathless concerts have before now been centred around the music of 2 face (before his name change). So that the first one, held in 2010, was tagged, “2face Live: Buckwyld ‘n’ Breathless.”
Two editions of the concert were held in 2012, first in Lagos and then in London. The Lagos edition was tied to then latest album by 2face Away & Beyond and called ‘Buckwyld ‘n’ Breathless: Away & Beyond’. The London show was held at the famous 02 Arena, London 2012.
Rapper MI Abaga has just released a video for ‘Everything’ a single from his last mixtape Illegal Music 3. For his part, a new album is expected from 2Baba as the ‘African Queen’ singer has released a number of singles this year including the love song 'Officially Blind' which came out just before Valentine's Day . His last release, ‘Oya Come Make We Go’, features Sauti Sol.
