The Arts & Culture Trust (ACT), and UJ Arts & Culture, will present the third ACT / UJ Arts & Culture Conference, in March 2015 at the University of Johannesburg (UJ). Presented in partnership with the British Council Connect ZA, and entitled 'Creatives Make It Happen', the conference will run from the 8 - 10 March 2015.
The two and a half day conference aims to provide a forum for developing and inspiring the creative community. Engaging with entrepreneurs, manufacturers, policy makers and implementers; in addition to the advertising, film, design and broader arts industries; it will showcase new ways of cultivating business ideas in a contemporary South Africa.
The conference will host several thought-leaders and leading industry professionals from South Africa, Africa and abroad; and will provide opportunities for attendees to engage with speakers and conference participants alike.
Head of Arts British Council South Africa Levinia Jones takes on conference design, in collaboration with a Content Advisory Team comprising ACT Board members Melissa Goba, Caroline Smart, Themi Venturas and Trish Downing; who are joined by Grace Meadows from UJ Arts & Culture; Molemo Moiloa from VANSA (Visual Arts Network of South Africa) and Lonwabo Mavuso from BASA (Business and Arts South Africa).
Planning of an invigorating programme is well underway; and promises to provide exciting opportunities for practicing makers, doers and connectors working in the creative industries. Entrepreneurs who have found creative ways of making their businesses work, or who have been innovative in their approach, will drive conference content through an exchange of knowledge, experience, opportunities and practical advice.
The 2015 Arts & Culture Conference is a project of the Arts & Culture Trust and UJ Arts & Culture. It is presented in partnership with British Council Connect ZA, the SAMRO Foundation, Pro Helvetia and Business and Arts South Africa.
