The ‘Doc Shebeleza’ hitmaker will join an elite team of Zambia’s chart-topping musical icons at the Mosi Day of Thunder, the premier destination for Zambian party-lovers seeking a quality atmosphere. The Mosi Day of Thunder will feature local stars Jay Rox, Bobby East, K.R.Y.T.I.C., Drimz and the Mutende Culture Ensemble alongside DJs Bloxx, Psycho Tash and Sebastian Dutch.

They will be joined by the winners of the Mosi Lager Zambian Music Awards (ZMA), who will be unveiled two days before the festival at a ceremony in Lusaka on 28 April.

"We are glad that excitement for the Day of Thunder has been heightened by this announcement," said Mosi Lager marketing manager Nomonde Donsa. "We have been planning this from the very beginning and we are glad that months of hard work has finally come to fruition. We believe this concert will be a thunderous event as one of South Africa’s biggest artists, Zambia’s top headliners and the music lovers party to ‘the Smoke that Thunders’!"

No stranger to the rest of Africa, in March last year Cassper was invited to perform for schoolkids in Malawi and in August 2015 performed in Nigeria.

The nominees for the Zambian Music Awards were recently revealed. This year’s event will see Chef 187 (top dog at last year's awards), Jay Rox and Afunika battle it out for the coveted title of Best Male Artist, while the Best Female Artist trophy will be selected from Kan2Cleo IceQueen and Chileshe Bwalya. Fans can still cast their vote on the ZMA website - but hurry: voting closes this Friday 22 April

Preparations for the 2016 ZMAs hit a snag recently when prominent Zambia artists Macky 2 and Mr Vezzy called on others to boycott the awards, although their accusations were quickly dismissed by the organisers.

Tickets for the Mosi Day of Thunder are available from Computicket outlets in all Shoprite stores in Zambia. For more details visit the Day of Thunder Facebook event page.
