Alim Kamara

Bio

Alim Kamara is a poet and hip hop artist whose voice has exhilarated audiences all over the world; from London to Sierra Leone, USA, Canada and Holland.

Kamara was raised in one of the most socially deprived areas in London. He went to the University and, after an unsuccessful first stint, he changed course and studied Creative and Media Writing. He graduated with a first class honours (BA). Alim was also awarded the Edna Fuller Prize for being an outstanding student in English and allied subjects who made a significant contribution to the university’s community.

Alim’s ability to mesh seamlessly with diverse audiences and stimulate engaging discussions has afforded him great opportunities. From gracing the stage with international starlet Beyoncé, to performing on occasions for the office of the Deputy Prime-Minister in the UK. Alim’s work has also earned him an invite to a reception by Tony and Cheryl Blair.

In 2010, Alim’s lyrical contribution was lent to a song around the concept of ‘Education for All’, which featured Cristiano Ronaldo, Les Ferdinand, Peter Crounch and other notable footballers.

Alim follows a lineage of griots. His need to share inspiring stories that were rendered to him around campfires in Sierra Leone while growing up has triggered the release of the storytelling album. This album contains a series of meaningful life changing stories accompanied with humor.
