Bio

Born on 12 November 1986 in Kabwe, Zambia, B Flow (real name Brian Mumba Kasoka Bwembya) is a Zambian dancehall artist. His passion for music began he was eight years old. Back then, he and his friends played a small band by turning pots and buckets into drums and making Banjos (non-electric guitars) using tins, planks and strings.

His talent was discovered in 2004 by Mr Ignatius Chongwe prior to his performance at a talent show at Sacred Heart Parish in Kabwe. In 2009, he released his debut album ‘Mpu Mpu Mpu’ (meaning heartbeat). The album earned him recognition at the 2009 Zambia Ngoma Awards where he was nominated in the Best New Artist Category. The album featured songs like ‘Bubblegum Lover’, ‘Energizer’, ‘Mosikito’ and its title track ‘Mpu Mpu Mpu’. In 2011, he released his second solo album called 'No More Kawilo' (translated to no more loneliness). This was followed by his third album titled 'Voiceless Woman' (2013).

His music earned him a household name and had the privilege to share the stage with international artists such as U.S. duo Brick & Lace, Oliver Mtukuzi, P-Square and Jah Cure.

He has received close to ten nominations namely the 2009 Ngoma Awards in the Best Upcoming Artist of the Year category, the 2009 Born and Bred Awards in the Best Ragga Video of The Year for ‘Mpu Mpu Mpu’, 2009 Home FM in the Best Upcoming Artist of the year category, 2010 Radio Phoenix/Zain Best Collaboration of the year for the song ‘Bubblegum Lover’ featuring Kachanana, the 2011 Radio Phoenix Best Song of the year category for ‘No More Kawilo’, the 2013 Best Dancehall Artist at the Zambian Music Awards and the 2014 Best Mainstream Album category at the Zambian Music Awards and many others.

Some of the awards he has received include the 2011 Best Conscious Video at the Born & Bred Video Awards, 2012 Best Dancehall Video at the Born & Bred Video Awards, 2013 HIV/AIDS Awareness Ambassadors' Certificate- USAID Funded SHARe II Project and the 2014 Most Educative Album (Voiceless Woman) Recognition Award for outstanding artist at the Born & Bred Awards.

Besides music, B Flow is a brand ambassador for two non-governmental organizations known as AIDS Health Care Foundation (AHF) and USAID-funded SHARe. He is the chairman for the HIV/AIDS and Social Commentary (HASC) team of the Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM). He is also a part of the Zambia/Norway (ZedWay) project.
