BEM LimHop Awards (BLHA)

Bio

The BEM LimHop Awards (BLHA) are an annual hip-hop award ceremony honouring the best hip-hop talent in the province of Limpopo. It is run by the Raymond Shihawu Foundation (RSF). Winners receive a statue called a Baobab. The first award ceremony was held on 30 November 2013 at the Library Auditorium in Polokwane, Limpopo.

Contenders are judged on their performances and achievements between November the previous year and September that year. Most categories are judged by a panel of independent, unpaid judges drawn from the broadcast and print media, as well as freelance writers and hip-hop activists. Entries are submitted by artists or record labels, both major and independent.

The third annual BEM! LimHop Awards takes place on 27 November 2015 at the new Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
