Gyedu-Blay Ambolley

Bio

Gyedu-Blay Ambolley was born in Sekondi, Ghana. He started his music career in the early 1970's, releasing the seminal track "Simigwa do" in 1973.

This song is said by some to be the first rap recording. He moved to the USA and spent several years recording and performing both as a solo artiste and with other African and American acts.

He returned to Ghana and has maintained a consistent local and international touring schedule, as well as releasing several albums, including a remix of his classic 'Simigwa do'. He has delivered a masterclass at the Redbull Music Academy.
