Chrispin

Bio

Born in Bujumbura, Burundi, Chrispin is one of the most influential reggae musicians to emerge out of Rwanda. His parents are refugees from Rwanda. He is also a songwriter commonly known as the promoter of the Human Values through reggae music. He draws his aspirations from a number of reggae artists. He is the eighth born in a family of eleven children. He grew up in Burundi and returned home after the 1994 genocide against Tutsi. He became passionate about music at a tender age. Back then, he used to sing in the church together with his old brother. In 2004, his love for music prompted him to establish a music group called ‘Rwanda Family’. In 2008, he decided to go solo.

Apart from music, he studied mathematics and physics and thereafter obtained a bachelor’s degree in economics at the Kigali Independent University (ULK) in 2009.

He became famous with songs such as ‘Dieu d’Afrique’, ‘African Moment’, ‘Adieu L’Afrique Shida’, ‘Craving for Unity’, ‘Pays de Samali’, ‘Oh Congo’ and many others. He has to date released two albums namely ‘Adieu l’Afrique Shida’ and ‘African Moment’.

He has performed at high profile events such as FESPAD and at annual social events organized by a local NGO called Nursery of Peace-Charity (NOPA charity). He was also invited to participate at events such as RAP Song Event in Amsterdam, Netherland, RAP stands for Right, Acceptance and Participation.
