Hip Hop The Nation

Hip Hop The Nation is a youth development oriented initiative that was founded by Smart Move Entertainment and Hip Hop Headz. The organization plays a number of roles in The Gambia’s arts industry. They aim is to host monthly outdoor concerts in a strategic open venue. They showcase established and upcoming artistes in the country and use their platform to encourage likeminded individuals and groups to come with initiatives.

The idea was conceived some time ago. In November 2015, the organizers staged their first edition and had a huge turnout. Since then, the organizers continue to stage the event on monthly basics. The platform is designed to encourage like-minded individuals and groups to come with initiatives that would help shape mindsets of young people springing up in the contemporary music towards nation building.

Hip Hop The Nation is also a platform not necessarily limited to promoting one musical genre but extends to the reggae community in the country and to form a rock-solid alliance for The Gambia.

On 9 January 2016, the organization held its second edition event to send a clear message to the community. The third edition was held on 5 March of that year at Westfield featuring a number of hip-hop and reggae artists.
