Junior Brown

Bio

Born James Mpakula, Junior Brown is a Zimbabwean rapper whose passion for music began at a tender age. Back then, he could sing to Notorious B.I.G’s songs. With support from family, he was prompted to write music and stage a number of performances. ZiFM Stereo presenter Lovejones discovered him and assisted him to record his first song in 2006. Before recording his songs, he was a producer who produced for artists such as TK Hollan and many others.

In 2012, he released a solo project ‘Madrinks’ featuring Ten Diamond. The song won the Song of The Year category in the 2013 Zim Hip Hop Awards (ZHHA). In the same year, Brown and Tehn collaborated to produce the song 'Happy' which won a National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA). The artist has held a number of performances. In 2013, he performed with Khuli Chan at Shoko Festival. He has so far won two awards. ‘Madrinks’ won the Best Song of the Year at the Zim Hip Hop award and the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the year categories.
