Maitisong Festival

Maitisong Festival is Gaborone’s major festival in Botswana that takes place in March. It is a performing arts cornucopia of traditional music, dance and theater held all over the city and its suburbs. The event lasts for nine full days and sees the entire population take to the streets in carnival mode.

International and local artists bring theatre, music, dance, slam poetry and comedy to fee-paying audiences in several venues around Gaborone as well as non-stop music shows to thousands of revelers in under-privileged areas free of charge.

The event takes place at multiple venues across Gaborone. Maru-a-Pula School and Maitisong remain the home of the Festival and will host the opening and closing nights. Old Naledi is another exciting new venue. Organisers intend to have the music concert not only for Old Naledi residents but for everyone who is looking for great entertainment.
