Nancy G

Bio

Born in Swaziland, Nancy G (real name Nancy Ginindza) is a female artist based in Johannesburg, South Africa. She grew up in London, U.K. and lived there for 17 years before she relocated to Johannesburg. While in the U.K, she had the opportunity to nurture and refine her talent in music and academic. She studied a Commercial Music degree at the University of Westminster, one of the first professional music degrees in the world. While in Europe, she worked with many influential and talented people in the industry.

She is a guitar player, singer, songwriter who arranges her own music. Her first taste of guitar music came about by listening to legends like Neil Young, the Police, Michael Jackson, Peter Tosh, Dolly Parton, Jimi Hendrix and Miles Davis. Her soulful sound crosses international boundaries while hitting home in matters of the heart. Her debut album The Offering was released earlier this year.

In 2011, she embarked on a tour with her band ‘The Human Family’ courtesy of Alliance Francáise and played throughout the SADC region in countries including South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, and Swaziland over a period of 20 days.

In 2012, she was part of the UJFM Power circle road show, where she performed across the four campuses to an estimated audience of 50 000 registered University Of Johannesburg students. She was also part of the 2012 Mandela Day celebrations on the South African National Broadcaster’s Campaign on SABC 3, which broadcasts to an estimated 19 million audience across South Africa. In that same year, she performed at the Guess Fashion Show, the Bush Fire Festival Arts festival in her home country Swaziland, the Joy of Jazz Festival and PSL awards.

In October 2013, she partnered with local farm Boys ‘Kanye Kanye’ to start a Co-op which supports 18 people from the farmers, laborers to chef waiters, musicians and artists. The Co-op is a restaurant and arts venue named The Lighthouse.

She has an album titled ‘The Offering’ which features a hit single called ‘When I wake Up This Morning’.
