Phathwakahle Mabuza

Bio

Phathwakahle Mabuza, also known as Queen of Swazi gospel, is female gospel artist from Manzini, Swaziland. She shot to fame after releasing her famous album ‘Akezeli Akalali’, released in 2010, with the hit track ‘Kukhona Okuzowendzeka’.

She returned again with another powerful album titled ‘Ingadlangadla’, which also took the Gospel music industry by storm. The release of the album unleashed a busy schedule on her and she had to deal with an avalanche of invites to perform at roadshows, promotions, corporate events and many other important functions.

Following a sabbatical from the local gospel music scene, she made acomeback with the release of her fifth album titled ‘Sekonakele, Jehova Sewehlile’. The project features tracks such as Sekonakele’, ‘KuJesu kuyenzeka’, ‘Buntu’, ‘Buntfu Izigi ‘and ‘Vuthelani’.

Phathwa attributes her success to God and the support she receives from her husband and manager Gcina Mabuza.

In 2013, she received double awards at the NACA awards as the Best female Artist and was voted by the public as the Most Popular Artist. She has been nominated for the Crown Gospel Awards, South African Traditional Music Association (SATMA) Awards and the local Gospel Music Awards, the then Tihlabani Awards among others.

She has graced many a stage around the country and beyond Swaziland. She has performed before His Majesty King Mswati III, Her Majesty Indlovukazi, and during the Cabinet Swearing in ceremony. She was also among the few local artists who performed at the Prime Minister Dr Sibusiso Dlamini and Pastor Joy Maziya’s wedding.

Among the many shows she has graced is the state opening the country’s parliament which is regarded as the most important ceremony of the year where the King guides the nation on how the year is expected to turn out.

She has gone beyond the country’s borders where she graced many stages including Ukhozi FM Easter Festival at Port Shepstone in South Africa, the Nelson Mandela’s Prayer at Mbombela Stadium and the Mpumalanga Arts and Culture and the 2013/2014 cross over at Mbombela Stadium.

She also shared the stage with US Gospel artist Kirk Franklin during the Gospel Blestival at Mabida Stadium in Durban last year.
