Shaibu Brothers

Bio

Shaibu Brothers is a Malawian music outfit living in a small village on the outskirts of the border town of Mchinji. Made up of Shaibu and Pitani Pitilosi, the brothers are part of the Wired For Sound - Malawi, a project that was recorded by a solar-powered mobile recording studio run by members of the popular South African band Freshlyground (Simon Attwell and Julio Sigauque). When they heaed about this project, the two brothers cycled five hours on a shared bicycle to record with the team. Their music is ‘modern traditional’ folk played on a homemade goat-skin guitar. Through Wired for Sound, the brothers were offered their first live performance when they opened the Lake of Stars Festival in Monkey Bay last year.
