The Sowers Group fuse East African gospel harmonies with contemporary grooves and traditional rhythms from DRC, Rwanda, Uganda and Tanzania. Their first album, 70x7 was mixed and mastered in South Africa. Their more recent album, 'Cheza! (Dance!)', was produced by Australia's Translator Records and released worldwide.
The group went on to work on the soundtrack to an original Swahili musical, 'Nipe Jibu', a movie created and produced by Pamoja Ministries. By blending styles from Central/East Africa, sounds from their own individual tribes, Australian grooves and influences from American R&B the Sowers Group are creating unique music that carries a powerful message of hope.
Coming from the war-torn countries of Congo and Rwanda this group sings about the saving power of God from experience. Their music has infectious rhythms and powerful lyrics. Their members include: Mike Matumaini (vocals, guitar), Christelle Mugeni (vocals), Oswald Basoka (vocals) and Kosto Zahinda (guitar, vocals).
