Stich Fray

Bio

Born on 17 July 1992, Stich Fray (real name Steven Chibwazi) is a reggae and dancehall artist from Blantyre, Malawi. He is signed to Trap Entertainment and owns a studio called D&T Records. Besides singing, he is also a producer, songwriter and sound engineer who belongs to a music group called Trap Squad. The group is comprised of the following members: Revolver, Judagaga and Chavura.

His career kicked off in 2008 when he joined a dancehall group called Afarisi. Being a member of Afarasi opened many possibilities for him such as meeting DJ Chris from a local radio station called Power 101. He had his maiden interview with the popular DJ, the interview marked the beginning of his fame.

In 2010, he established his own studio called D&T Records in Chilobwe. A year later, he was introduced to Revolver, a well-known hip-hop artist. He worked on Revolver's single called ‘Mbina Mbina’. This was followed with production of the rapper's album ‘Chilembwe ndi Madona’ (2012). The album earned him a name as one of the country's most popular producers.

As part of Trap Squad, he has released songs such ‘John Chilembwe Remix’ and ‘Waku Blantyre’. On 4 February 2013, they released their debut mixtape ‘Family Over Everything’ (F.O.E). The mixtape featured singles such ‘4 minus 3’, ‘John Chilembwe Remix’, ‘Waku Blantyre’ and ‘Friends With Benefits’. ‘4 minus 3’ was well-received and this marked the start of his career as a solo artist.

As Stich Fray, he released a debut single titled ‘4 Minus 3’ (2013). Shortly afterwards, he began working on an album ‘Dreams and Thoughts’ which was released in 2014. It featured singles such as ‘Achoke’ and ‘Ndati No No’.
