Straight No Chaser

Bio

Formerly known as The Mahogany Room, Straight No Chaser is based on the model of the world's greatest jazz clubs, such as The Village Vanguard, Smalls and Ronnie Scotts. Named after the seminal 1967 album by Thelonius Monk, the club is the result of two artists, Kesivan Naidoo and Lee Thomson, coming together with a vision of creating an ideal home for jazz in Cape Town, a place where people can appreciate the immense talent of South Africa. It is co-owned and run by former Rolling Stone South Africa editor Miles Keylock.

Straight No Chaser was created by the artists, for the artists. The venue operates on a ‘pay per set’ basis to accommodate a larger audience to experience the best jazz in Cape Town. Doors open at 7pm and sets usually begin at 8pm and 10pm.
