Tobiya Poetic Jazz

The group have been organizing different poetry programs with other related professionals like musicians, Quire, vocalists, actors on different stages and media for the last 10 years.Tthey introduced the first Poetic Jazz performance ever in Ethiopia with the then Hara Sound band ( a group created by young musicians graduated from Yared music school) at the Alliance Ethio- francaise in 2008.

They have collaborated with the renowned Ethiopian musician Girma Yifrashew when he organized an astonishing event in tribute to the late painter/poet, G/Kirstos Desta entitled ‘HAGERE’ at the Italian cultural institute and following that year the group has also organized a very successful project with the Goethe institut Addis Ababa in 2011 called Rap Poetry.

The group members have been staging monthly poetic jazz nights at the Wabi Shebelle hotel for one year on Wednesdays and have started another monthly poetic jazz event at Ras hotel. Their shows are becoming very popular with more than 800 attendants every month.
