Fun for the whole family at MTN Bushfire
Swaziland’s highly acclaimed three-day music and arts festival, MTN Bushfire 2015, will take place from 29-31 May 2015 in the heart of the beautiful farmlands of the Malkerns Valley. Each year a multi-generational global community of more than 20 000 gathers to experience this unique event renowned for eclectic and multi-dimensional programming rooted in world music and including a compelling line-up of theatre, poetry, dance, art exhibitions and installations, story-telling, puppetry, film and themed workshops.
MTN Bushfire is also one of the few major festivals in Africa to welcome families and children with its safe and warm environment that includes an array of child friendly activities, performances and safe spaces.
The theme of the MTN Bushfire KidZone is ‘Magic Castle’, with the entire area decorated as a medieval castle with a safe and inclusive kids community inside. The castle maze will include a range of different play- stations and will be surrounded by activity areas for children of all ages.
Working with the Montessori Life Primary School, children can also let their imaginations run wild with creative and challenging activities. Just some of these activities include a special area just for little ones with games like basketball, goal scoaring, ring throwing, water-balloon toss, hoola hoops and tumbling races. Another fun and exciting area within the castle maze will be the‘dress up’ stations tstyled to coincide with the medieval theme. Children can dress up as knights, princesses or even have their faxes painted as dragons and fairies. Creativity will be encouraged in the play area with opportunities to paint the castle maze, and also paint a Zogg – a cardboard cow that can be taken home. A specially created children’s performance marquee will host interactive performances and for older children, an evening stargazers club.
MTN Bushfire will also offer healthy food and drink options as well as pancakes, crepes and ice cream for special treats. Even better news for parents of infants and babies is the creation of an area specifically designed for the youngest set, including comfortable seating, a private baby changing tent and plenty of blankets and shady space to relax. A vibrant handcraft market as well as the recently introduced interactive art and dialogue space, The Barn, all combine to create a magically eclectic and family friendly entertainment experience.
