Ghana: The Artist Concert to feature VILLY & the Xtreme Volumes
The Artist Concert will host VILLY & the Xtreme Volumes on 25 March at the Nubuke Foundation in East Legon, Ghana.
VILLY & The Xtreme Volumes, a Nigerian afro-fusion band based in Ghana, is led by Villy Odili. The band performs regularly at Felabration, Sabolai Radio Music Festival, and the Asa Baako music festival. In 2012, the band headlined the World Music Day concert organised in Ghana by Alliance Francaise, Goethe institute and the British Council.
Humanimals, the band's 2016 sophomore album, showcased the range of the Villy & the Xtreme Volumes' brand of afro-fusion, which has a political message at its heart. Their songs, according to Kwame Write Aidoo, "remind us that African protest music with substance is here—not only to stay but to make an impact."
The monthly Artist Concert, which features a single artist for the duration of an edition, has featured Wanlov the Kubolor from FOKN Boiz and Akan in January and February respectively. Presented to promote intimacy, the Artist Concert encourages fan and artist interactive sessions after each performance.
The March edition of the Artist Concert takes place from 8 - 11 pm. Entry fee: 10 cedis ($3). For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page.
