Jonathan Butler set to headline the 2015 Safaricom International Jazz Fest

South African jazz artist Jonathan Butler (http://www.musicinafrica.net/directory/jonathan-butler) is set to headline the 2015 Safaricom International Jazz Festival set for Sunday 22nd February 2015 at Ngong Racecource, along Ngong Road, Nairobi, Kenya. Described variously as an acoustic guitarist, RnB/Pop musician, soul singer, and now a gospel artist, Jonathan, who was born in Cape Town in 1961, started out in music at age 6. By age 12 he was signed to Zomba Records, shortly after bagging a Sarie Award for his release, ‘Please Stay’.
In 1977 he was signed to London-based Jive Records. He has featured on a host of projects, his latest release being ‘Living my Dream’, released last year. Tickets for the upcoming festival are on sale for Ksh. 1, 000/= for regular tickets and Ksh. 300/= for students at selected Safaricom shops.
This year's festival will be a 1-week multi-venue event. The other participating musicians are Swahili Jazz Band (Kenya), Isaiah Katumwa (Uganda), Soweto Kinch (UK), Nicolas Kummert Voices (Belgium), Tomer Bar Trio (Israel) and Ack Van Rooyen & Juraj Stanik (The Netherlands). There will be a special performance by Jimmy Dludlu (SA).
