UK artist Joss Stone (real name, Joscelyn Eve Stoker) will play a concert in Accra, Ghana at 8pm tonight, 30 January.
Joss Stone’s career began early. At 13, she entered and won a talent show on BBC Television. Her first album, The Soul Sessions, was released in 2003. Her second album was released the next year. Both have become triple platinum records. In 2005, she received three Grammy nominations. She then won a Grammy in 2007 for ‘Family Affair’, a collaboration with John Legend and Van Hunt. Her third album, Introducing Joss Stone, was released in the same year.
In July of 2007, Ms Stone performed in South Africa, duetting with Angelique Kidjo at some point during her performance. Three more albums have been released since, the last, Water for Your Soul, coming in 2015.
Joss Stone has been on the Joss Stone Total World Tour since 2014, recently performing in Sao Tome, the 95th country on her stops. She has also performed in Gabon and Djibouti and Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon, working with local artists met on her stops. "I want to show people the immense amount of good work and creativity that is happening all over the world and to encourage others to take responsibility for helping to solve the worlds many social and environmental issues," Ms Stone has said about the tour.
Over on Twitter, ahead of her performance tonight, she tweeted, “Bye #SaõTomé it was a fun few days, this country is beautiful. Our next stop is #Ghana.”
