SA's Trenton and Free Radical back with new single
South African local band Trenton and Free Radical is back with a new single called ‘No Ceiling’ following a break from playing live gigs.
Produced by award winning German producers Stephan Bader and Andre Tolba, ‘No Ceiling’ has since gained traction on radio stations across the country. The song's video, directed by the Jo'burg-based Gigh Zack, has been screened by MTV Base.
Headed by Trenton Birch, the band clinched a deal in early 2015 with German manager Volker May, head of the International Music Mangers Forum. The deal with Volker will see Trenton and Free Radical tour Europe over the next few years.
Apart from directly making music, Birch has also contributed to the Cape Town, and the larger South African, music industry as activist and entrepreneur. Along with band member Thabo Mobo, Birch runs a non-profit organisation called Bridges for Music. The organisation works to break down racial divides, uplift underprivileged communities, and bridge the gap between the Cape Town townships and the city-centred mainstream music resources.
Bridges for Music has started work on the construction of an entrepreneurial academy in Langa, Cape Town. Expected to be equipped with a state-of the-art studio, classrooms and computer labs, the academy will empower young creatives from the Langa township.
