Uganda’s Bakri Mat to perform in Dubai

Uganda’s Dance-hall and RnB artist Bakri Matovu popularly known as Bakri of the ‘18 and Over’ song fame is set to hold his maiden musical showcase at the Amnesia Underground Club in Dubai.

Being the first time he will stage a performance in Dubai, the artist is excited to be performing at the show on 21 November. This follows a series of other performances in South Sudan for musical concerts which were held in Juba and Yei towns.  Bakri is expected to perform in Khartoum later on December.

Bakri mat is a talented Ugandan vocalist, songwriter and fashion designer, who have been singing since 2010. In 2010 Bakri worked as a song writer and member of the boy band Jaamie and Bakri but his recognition as a solo artist came about in 2012 with the release of the first single ‘Solatido’. After ‘Solatido’ Bakri went on to release other singles such as ‘18 and over’, ‘Steadywine’, ‘Nkwata’ and ‘Togana’. Through his releases Bakri has been able to considerable followers in Uganda.

His show in Dubai will enable him reach out to audiences in Dubai as well as offer Ugandan’s who reside in Dubai a chance to reconnect with Uganda’s Dance-hall music. His music is heavily influenced by passion having been a backup and song writer to his elder brother Jamie wood.  The artist whose talent has earned him accolades for his songwriting skills is expected to release his maiden album Chidula before the end of 2015.
