World Intellectual Property Day
This year's world intellectual property day was observed under the theme "Movies: A Global Passion'. To this end, WIPO has launched a competition in one school with students within the age group of 13 to 17 years, asking students to produce short video clips through mobile phones or digital cameras, putting on scene various situations reflecting "Respect for IP" whose scenario is explained below;
WORLD INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY DAY & THE MOVIES This year's world intellectual property day was observed under the theme "Movies: A Global Passion'. To this end, WIPO has launched a competition in one school with students within the age group of 13 to 17 years, asking students to produce short video clips through mobile phones or digital cameras, putting on scene various situations reflecting "Respect for IP" whose scenario is explained below; "If you had produced a movie, had acted in a movie, had written a script, or had composed or performed the theme song of a movie, "How would you convince your friends to respect your rights in this movie?" ; "Why is it important that they respect rights in movies?" The timeline for the project will be completed for IP Day on 7th of December. WIPO has supported the development of the competition with the commission supporting the logistical bit. This project is geared towards providing a concrete "model" awareness activity targeting the youth, in the context of the Building Respect for IP – Awareness Strategy.
