D'Tunes

D’Tunes (Adesanya Doyinsola) is a Nigerian producer famous for producing ‘Kukere’ (2011), the hit song by Iyanya and, later, his work with singer Sean Tizzle. Born in 1991, D’Tunes starting off by learning to play instruments in church and was then admitted into the church choir when it was certain he had attained a sufficient level of proficiency. He made his first beat after secondary school as he waited for admission into a university.

He got in and dropped out of Olabisi Onabanjo University to focus on his music which at the time was growing, realising he needed to concentrate to make something from it. His parents were against the move, but the young producer stuck to his gun. Which he may have regretted when five of eight members of a rap group Tha RS he was part of abandoned ship. He then became a producer. Soon he produced ‘Beautiful’ for 2face and 9ice, two of his heroes and then he was truly on his way.

D’Tunes met singer Iyanya, with whom he produced some of his popular tunes, and the singer told him they would make history together. The clearest illustration of Iyanya’s statement came upon the release of the song ‘Kukere,’ their second ‘experiment’ together. When the video for the song was released it became inescapable in Nigeria. ‘Kukere’ has since become Iyanya’s signature tune leading to a remix with D’Banj. A few more singles including ‘Ur Waist’ and ‘Flavour’ came from the duo, culminating in Iyanya’s ‘Iyanya vs Desire’ album.

Producer and artist would late part in 2013 as producer left Iyanya’s Made Men Music Group label. Thereafter D’Tunes set up record label Difference Entertainment and signed up singer Sean Tizzle. Their collaboration ‘Sho Lee’ (2013) became a club and radio favourite, solidifying D’Tunes position as a reliable hitmaker. ‘Mama Eh’ followed to comparable success.

Sean Tizzle’s debut ‘The Journey’ saw several tracks produced by D’Tunes, who is both producer and CEO of Difference Entertainment. In 2015, the label announced that it had signed five new acts: Badboy Ace, Qdot, Kuebounce, D-O B and ATM.
