Fatou Kandé Senghor
Bio
Fatou Kandé Senghor is a Senegalese educator, documentarian and filmmaker.
Based in Dakar, Senegal, Fatou combines photography, film, writing and public art installations to explore concepts of identity, history, geography and community. She studies the changes in today’s society and see how ancient legends and poetry, recorded in oral tradition, influence modern life.
Fatou collaborated with the legendary Senegalese filmmaker Ousmane Sembène on the feature film "Faat kiné" and with Wim Wenders in 2007 on a documentary called “The Invisible” about sexual violence against women in Congo.
In 2015, she published "Wala Bok :une histoire orale du hip-hop au Sénégal” (Wala bok: an oral history of hip-hop in Senegal).
