Bio
In the heart of Vosloorus, a town in the east of Johannesburg, SA, resides Katlego
Makgotlwe, also known as KatzTheSingR, a singer-songwriter and guitarist whose
vibrant melodies echo through the town. Born into a family deeply rooted in
musical tradition, Katz discovered her voice at a young age, harmonizing with the
soulful rhythms of church choirs.
Her musical journey truly began in 2015 when she ventured to Pretoria for studies.
Amidst the bustling streets of the city, she found solace in music, joining a band
that nurtured her burgeoning talent. Determined to forge her own path, Katz
immersed herself in the world of guitar-playing, crafting melodies that spoke to the
depths of her soul.
The stage beckoned, and in 2019, Katz's spirit shone brightly on The Voice SA
Season 3. Though her time on the show was brief, it ignited a spark of passion
within her. A year later, fortune smiled upon her as she collaborated with Prince
Kaybee on the Project Hope album, lending her enchanting vocals to the uplifting
anthem "Ha ke sa kgone."
Katz's musical journey continued to flourish, captivating audiences with her soulstirring
performances. Inspired by luminaries such as Lianne Lahavas, H.E.R., Zoe
Modiga, and Msaki, her music transcended genres, weaving a tapestry of afrosoul,
alternative, and RnB. Collaborating with Moza'Frique on tracks like "Are You
Winning?" and "Freedom," Katz added her voice to the chorus of change, using her
music as a beacon of hope and liberation. Through her soothing melodies,
