Call for nominations: Cape Gospel and Music Awards in SA
The organisers of the Cape Gospel and Music Awards (CGMAs) in South Africa are calling on the public to nominate their favourite artists and songs ahead of the inaugural awards ceremony later this year.
The annual event will run under the theme, The Cape of Praise/Ikapa Le Ndumiso/Die Kaap van Prys, and seeks to recognise gospel talent within the Cape regions and the Christian media fraternity.
The public can nominate one person per category by completing this form and submitting it to info@capemusicawards.co.za. Competitive and specialised categories cost R400 per nomination. The organisers have already shortlisted a list of names for the Lifetime Achievement Honorary Award. Meanwhile, the public can write a letter of motivation indicating why their preferred nominee deserves an honorary award.
Note: To complete the form electronically, participants need to open the document in Internet Explorer. Those using Google Chrome can save the form and reopen it before completing it.
Physical products (CDs/DVDs/music videos, etc.)
Only commercially released entries will qualify on the condition that a hard or digital copy of the nominated song, album or video is submitted together with the fully completed entry form.
Prizes
- Cash prizes and statuettes are awarded only to the winning groups or individuals, except where the category states otherwise.
- Groups or individuals who are nominated in any category are expected to attend the awards ceremony and those who fail to attend the awards ceremony will not be eligible to receive the cash prize of the award. Exceptions to this rule will be considered provided that an application is made by the nominee, giving written notice of their inability to attend, with an accompanying motivation video to be received within seven days of the nominees being announced. The application may be sent to admin@capemusicawards.co.za and/or info@capemusicawards.co.za.
- Should the application for absence be successful, the nominee may be required to record an audio-visual message for each category that they are nominated in. The recorded message may be used for broadcast or other publicity purposes, and a copy thereof must be emailed to info@capemusicawards.co.za by no later than 1 September 2021.
