Call for applications: Concerts SA Digital Mobility Fund 2022
Concerts SA (CSA) is inviting music professionals in South Africa to apply for the 2022 iteration of its Digital Mobility Fund (DMF).
The CSA programme is funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Norwegian Embassy, and the Southern African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO). It is administered by IKS Cultural Consulting and supported by Music in Africa as a digital partner.
Each DMF grant will provide up to R30 000 (about $2 000) to be used for small-scale live music events that will be streamed or recorded for delayed broadcast. All concerts should be recorded with a live audience, in accordance with COVID-19 protocols.
Interested artists should apply here before 4 February.
Requirements
- Applicant’s ID number.
- Letter of support from concert venue.
- The anticipated date of the applicant’s concert falling between 15 March and 29 May 2022.
- Applicants are required to paste a link to their profile on the Music In Africa website (see video below). A Music In Africa profile allows music professionals to add a concise professional bio, pictures, videos, music and other career aspects. This is important for the jury to fully understand the professional profile of the applicant.
- The applicants should create an outline of their streamed live music event with times, people and budget.
“In 2021, hundreds of musicians benefitted from Concerts SA’s micro-grants, which helped keep momentum through the debilitating impact of COVID-19 on the live music industry,” SAMRO CEO Mark Rosin said. “SAMRO is proud of Concerts SA’s continuing effort to stimulate and grow the live music circuits in southern Africa and is looking forward to their contribution to a vibrant and musical 2022.”
