Encoder Experiment
Bio
Encoder Experiment aka Antsa ARIMALALA puts an electronic touch in the current music repertory of Madagascar. Supported and managed by BSKMG, the duet realized a quick rise in the malagasy scene, from the most urban color to the high cultural sphere in the capital Antananarivo.
On stage, he performed an electro music with a touch of malagasy vibes and modern funky style with big uses of synth and warm vintage sounds. Using the DAW Ableton Live on live performance, he manages to give unique music experience with big sound and visual immersions with his midi controllers.
He outperfomed himself in 2023 when he played live at Fondation H and composed an experimental electronic EP with BSKMG using field recording from a natural reserve called Vohimana in Madagascar.
He began a career as an amateur musician in various local rock bands. The years pass, he developped his knowledge of musical theory, then decided to reorient himself towards sound production.
March 2020, Madagascar entered lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Antsa found himself alone in his home studio and decided to transcribe this phase into music. Encoder Experiment was born with an EP called "Lockdown Sounds" reminiscent of the 80s, with a sound very close to Synthwave. October 2020, Encoder Experiment performed for the first time on stage during an electronic music concert organized by the BSKMG collective. The visions converge between the two parties and a professional collaboration is established.
