Apple Music now accessible on Samsung Smart TVs
Samsung last week announced that Apple Music is now available on its Smart TVs.
Through the music streaming service, the TV owners can access more than 60 million songs, curated playlists, music videos and live radio.
The move makes Samsung the first TV brand to integrate Apple Music on its Smart TV platform. However, music streaming apps on TVs is not a new thing. Spotify, Pandora and Amazon Music are all available for a variety of smart TV platforms.
Apple Music is now available on TV models from 2018 through to 2020, in more than 100 countries. Details of the countries were not shared.
Through the Samsung Smart TV app store, users can download the music streaming service, sign into an existing account with their Apple ID or begin the subscription process from their TV. Apple Music is also offering a free three-month trial to Samsung Smart TV owners.
Samsung says it is committed to delivering the best entertainment to its consumers.
“Last year, we were the first TV manufacturer to offer the Apple TV app, and today, we are the first to offer Apple Music,” Samsung Electronics vice-president of strategic partnerships and business development Salek Brodsky said.
“Our partnership with Apple has been instrumental in bringing consumers an unparalleled line-up of different entertainment options, especially as they seek out more content choices from their Smart TVs.”
The move is targeted at people who are spending more time at home during COVID-19 lockdowns. It could also change the way some users consume music in terms of device choice.
Last week, Apple Music expanded into 52 new countries across the world, with about half of those being in Africa. It also launched its service on desktops.
