Watch Estère’s Mad About Your Sea video

The song is available for streaming and download here and is a follow-up of Estère’s September-release ‘Calculated Risk’. Both singles are off her upcoming and highly anticipated album Archetypes, which is set for release on 22 January 2021 on Blue Riot Records.

The ‘Mad About Your Sea’ video was directed by Paascalino Schaller and co-produced by Eva, Sunny and Estère.

Estère, who is born to a Cameroonian father and a New Zealander mother, says the song is “about being addicted to someone who is no good for you and wanting to save that person, despite the hurt that they have caused you.”

The video was filmed in Mannheim, Germany, and its cinematography reflects the essence of the song through languid, moody and textured shots. It’s a tantalising glimpse into a surreal yet relatable scenario.

Often likened to Little Dragon and St Vincent, Estère grabbed the attention of esteemed Massive Attack producer Stew Jackson in 2019. Together, they created Archetypes, featuring Estère's soaring vocals, body-moving R&B grooves, dense production and engrossing narratives.

In September, Estère told Music In Africa: “I’m motivated to try to understand the world around me through music. I’m so in awe of being on this Earth, but there is so much intense stuff to make sense of too. Music makes me feel present and connected to nature. It just let whatever I'm trying to come to terms with propel what I make.”
