Call for applications: Music-Tech Innovation Challenge in Nigeria
Nigerian company Co-Creation Hub (CcHUB), in collaboration with Music & Tech Space, is calling for applications for the 2020 Music-Tech Innovation Challenge.
The challenge seeks to develop technology-backed innovations across key touchpoints of Nigeria’s music industry, including label management, legal advisory for artists, artist management and event management.
The contest is open to teams and individuals in Nigeria and the application deadline is 16 October.
To qualify, interested participants are encouraged to attend at least one of the virtual ideation workshops, for which they can register here.
Moderated by CcHUB with key industry experts such as Audu Maikori (founder, Chocolate City Group), Uduak Oduok (founder, Africa Music Law), Godwin Tom (founder, The Godwin Tom Company and iManage Africa Entertainment) and Wale Davies (founder, Palmwine Music Festival), the seminars will equip startups and teams with resources pertaining to the challenge.
The organisers hope that the workshops will ensure that candidates are able to submit suitable applications. The workshops will cater to in-depth problem identification and clarification for each opportunity with resources and notes on the selection criteria.
The pitch event for the Music-Tech Innovation Challenge is scheduled for 11 November. It will be preceded by the shortlisting of applications between 17 and 26 October and pitch preparation from 29 October to 9 November.
The winning teams will receive technical support to build their products and connect with potential clients. They will advance to the incubation phase for a three-month support package from CcHUB and the aforementioned industry experts to polish their ideas to market-ready innovations. This will take place from 11 November 2020 to 1 March 2021.
Exceptional teams that demonstrate potential to scale up will also get the opportunity for direct funding from CcHUB.
Interested individuals and teams can apply here.
