Call for applications: 2021 Marahaba Music Expo in Burundi
African artists can now apply for an opportunity to perform at the 2021 edition of Marahaba Music Expo to be held in Bujumbura, Burundi, on 30 and 31 July.
Now in its second edition, the event seeks to connect professionals working in the Burundian music sector with experts from around world.
The event’s programme will include live performances, workshops and panel discussions.
Some of the artists that have previously performed at the event include Bernice Bell (Burundi), Destyn Maloya (Reunion), Kwanda (DRC), Nasibo (Zimbabwe), Ssali Muserebende (Uganda) and A'mosi Just a Label (Angola).
Eligibility
Live performing artists from around the world can apply.
To qualify for the application process, artists must:
- Be over 18 years old.
- Be able to perform live.
Interested artists should submit the following:
- A short biography.
- One video performance.
- Contact details.
- Digital platform links.
Support from Marahaba Music Expo
Musicians based outside Burundi will be expected to provide their own funding for transport costs to and from the host city. Marahaba Music Expo will issue invitation letters, which can be used to apply for funding.
Successful applicants will receive the following:
- A modest remuneration (per diem).
- Accommodation and local transport.
Interested applicants can apply via the application form, and successful candidates will be notified by 1 March.
The application deadline is 10 February 2021.
