Ghana’s Black Prophet to release ‘Stories of Life’

The artist, whose real name is Kenneth Wilberforce Zonto Bossman, released his first solo album in 1998. Titled No Pain No Gain, the album followed his work as member of Vibration Kings, a group that released an album in 1996.

His second solo album, Legal Stranger brought significant attention to Black Prophet, establishing him as an important reggae artist in his home country.

In 2003, Black Prophet had his first European tour, playing concerts in Belgium and the Netherlands. Subsequently, a single from Legal Stranger titled ‘Doubting Me’ won Best Reggae Song of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards.

The new album was recorded in Jamaica over a period of two years. The singer has, however, returned to Ghana to promote the album, posting regularly on social media. He has spoken highly of the new album, calling it a “masterpiece.”

Ahead of the release of Stories of Life, which he has called his best yet, he posted a message on Facebook to his fans: “I hope you will continue to share…and support Black Prophet for I will put African Roots Rock Reggae on the musical map and bring a Grammy back to Ghana.”

For the album, Black Prophet received production work from the respected saxophonist Dean Fraser who has worked with several reggae acts including Jamaican roots reggae artist Luciano.
