SA: Listen to Albert Frost’s Sacred Sound album
South African blues singer and guitarist Albert Frost has released an album titled Sacred Sound. The ten-track project is available for streaming and download on major streaming platforms.
Artists featured on the album include Neil Sandilands on ‘Ecce Homo’ and Arno Carstens on ‘Storms Are Breaking’.
“The album which sees Frost returning to his heavier rock roots is packed with riff-driven rock anthems, reflecting the trials and tribulations he has gone through since recording began back in 2019 with producer Theo Crous,” Frost’s team said. “From not being able to gig due to lockdown to cutting the tendon in his right hand which could have led to the end of his career. While there is an angrier edge to it, Albert maintains his bluesy Afro-pop sensibilities throughout the album.”
Frost has captured audiences worldwide with his energetic performances. His sound deftly alternates between rhythm and lead, showcasing his extraordinary skills on the acoustic and electric guitars. Frost’s first love is the blues, stemming from the influence of his long relationship with the Blues Broers, a well-known and respected group from Cape Town with whom he has performed since 1994 at the age of 17.
Some of his albums include Devils & Gods (2009), Live In Grahamstown (2013) and The Wake Up (2016). Over the years, Frost has supported and toured with Simple Minds (Scotland), R.E.M., the Rolling Stones (US) and the late Ali Farka Touré (Mali). He has performed at respected festivals like Oppikoppi, The Ilse Of Wight and Hard Rock Calling.
