Ncesh Nonxishi

Ncesh Nonxishi is a is a singer and songwriter based in Johannesburg. As a student in Makhanda in the early 2000s, she shared her music to receptive audiences at the university's open mic scene. In October 2024, she finally launched her debut album, Apho Kungenje, a multi-media project accompanied by a lyric book. Her album is inspired by a range of genres including folk music, jazz, pop and R&B. Ncesh Nonxishi is nominated for the 2025 Mzantsi Jazz Awards under the following categories: Best Newcomer, Best Female Jazz Artist, Best Contemporary Jazz Album and Best Jazz Song for the song, Poqo.
