Instagram launches education hub for creators
Instagram has launched a new creator hub called Creator Lab, which is designed to educate creators and influencers about growing their brand. The development was shared in a YouTube video (available below) by Instagram boss Adam Mosseri.
The social media platform has partnered with a number of successful influencers who have a significant Instagram following to offer short lessons under four minutes. It could be a useful destination for independent musicians and their management teams.
Instagram influencer Megan Jayne Crabbe said: “As a creator, you’re always gradually building up so many different skills. You can start with being on camera, then you get into editing, they you might get into presenting, you work on your writing, you work on your modelling, you work on your PR skills ... You’re always learning and that’s exciting. There's something new and different to do and to learn every single day.”
Creator Lab will feature three main categories: Finding Your Voice, Building a Community and Thinking Long-term. Topics will range from ‘defining your voice’ and ‘building a content strategy’ to ‘collaborating with others’, ‘managing social pressure’ and ‘myth-busting the algorithm’, among others. Through the lessons, the influencers share insights and information about the content creator space.
“This isn't a guide to guaranteed success as a creator, but our hope is that these proven tips and best practices can give you a place to start – a few jumping off points to experiment and see what works best for the unique ways you create,” Instagram said.
The website will also help creators grow their brand as businesses, boost their revenue and navigate cross-promotional deals.
