eSwatini: MTN Bushfire 2023 unveils full programme
The organisers of the annual MTN Bushfire festival in eSwatini have announced the full programme for this year’s edition slated for 26 to 28 May.
The event is expected to draw over 20 000 festivalgoers from across the world to the Malkerns Valley for a weekend of music, arts and activism.
MTN Bushfire 2023 will kick off with the opening of the campsite on Thursday before the festival officially starts on Friday running through the weekend.
Online tickets for the event are now sold out, and no tickets will be sold at the door. However, camping tickets are still available for those who already have a festival ticket. Campers are strongly advised to arrive early to avoid delays at the border and to take note of the travel tips here.
The event will provide a range of musical, artistic and performance-based experiences, alongside important conversations, installations and activations, all created within the spirit of tolerance, inclusion, and sustainability.
Once again, the MTN Bushfire Main Stage will play host to some of Africa’s best known and loved acts such as Zimbabwe’s explosively talented six-man crew Mokoomba and South Africa’s brightest and boldest star Sho Madjozi.
Other programmed acts include Jack Parow (South Africa), Desmond and the Tutus (South Africa), Ami Faku (South Africa), Black Motion (South Africa), Pongo (Angola), iYA (eSwatini), The Cavemen (Nigeria) and Ibeyi (France).
The House on Fire Amphitheatre will host eclectic and engaging artists from around the world including UK-born and Berlin based singer-songwriter Aka Kelzz, Portugal’s punk aesthetic solo project Scúru Fitchádu, Spanish electronic musician Javier Díez Ena, and Argentinian electroacoustic music project Rumbo Tumba.
The venue will also play host to comedy with internationally renowned stand-up comedian Daliso Chaponda.
The Ballantine’s Firefly Stage will see some of the top DJs from Africa and around the world performing throughout the weekend in an explosive, engaging and high-energy space to dance the weekend away. A melting pot of diverse talent, both local and international, will showcase their skills and bring you the very best that electronic, house and amapiano have to offer.
Other event highlights include a diverse range of activations and performances including a play, panel conversations, live muralists and more.
