Open call: Songwriting competition in Ghana and Nigeria
Submissions are ongoing for the fifth edition of the Akinyemi Law Songwriters Competition.
The annual initiative, conceived by lawyer and entrepreneur Akinyemi Ayinoluwa, provides a platform for both emerging and established artists, songwriters and producers to showcase their work in a professional, international setting. The competition connects participants with influential figures in the music industry, including A&Rs from major organisations. It also seeks to contribute to the growth of the songwriting culture in the region.
The contest will reward the ultimate winner with $3 000 and career consultation sessions.
Last year, the competition was won by Nigerian act Genie KG, who took home a prize package including $1 000. Other previous winners of the competition include Mike Frost and King Marky Moore.
The submission deadline is 15 November.
