L’WEI NETSHIVHALE
-Biography
Ailwei Lordwick Netshivhale is a Culturist, Guitarist, Music composer, Film music scorer, singer, recording artist and former music lecturer at Central Johannesburg TVET College.
He grew up in a musical background and he was well inspired by his father who was a multi musical instrumentalists like Harp, Mbira, and Percussions. His father was musically well known for improvising in Tshivenda chants and traditional songs such as Malende and Tshikona.
- Academic
After completing his Matric, Mr. Netshivhale studied a course in Office Administration with Dameli group. In 2006 he enrolled for a music course with OCHRIM School of Music, which he completed his (National Certificate). In 2007 he went and registered
for N2 in Jazz & Popular Music with Central Johannesburg TVET College in Johannesburg. This then led him to pursue a 4-year Jazz Music course with Tshwane University of Technology from 2008 to 2011. He completed his B-Tech program with TUT in record time, graduating the following year as a professional musician.

B-Tech: Jazz and Popular Music – TUT 2011 (with subjects: Jazz composition, Big-band arranging, Film music, Studio technique to name but the few).
Music career and other works
L’wei has 2 studio albums. His music is derived from Tshivenda indigenous music with African Jazz fused with Gospel and funk music. He has mastered the art of merging Tshivenda folk music (Malende and Tshikona reeds dance) with contemporary music.

L’wei is the founder of Tshivhale Line Productions (Pty) Ltd.
His debut Album “Mudzimu Washu” was nominated in various Music awards:
• It was nominated on Mzansi Gospel Awards, and Won two awards under the category, Best Contemporary and best Collaboration album.
• In August of the same year the Album was again nominated for Best Contemporary album on TSHIMA (Tshivenda Music Awards).
• In November 2015 the Album was also nominated on SABC Crown Gospel Awards for the category Best Gospel Jazz Album.
• In April 2016 the Album Mudzimu Washu was nominated for the SAMA22 (South African Music Awards) on category ‘Best African Adult Album’.
• Mudzimu washu was also nominated on INGOMA2016 for ‘Best Instrumentalist album’ category and walked away with the award. L’wei’s second/latest album (#Lwenzhe lwa shango) received two nominations on TSHIMA 2017 for the song Vuwani- Song of the year and, Male artist of the year categories).
