Nigeria: Kachi Annucia joins Sony Music Publishing
Sony Music Publishing (SMP) has announced the signing of Nigerian gospel singer and songwriter Kachi Annucia to its roster.
The news was made public on 31 July, following closely behind SMP’s unveiling of another Nigerian talent, producer and sound engineer SiGNAL, as their latest addition days ago.
In its announcement, SMP said Kachi Annucia, behind songs like ‘The Gratitude’ and ‘God of the Calm’, has caught the attention of many with his exceptional songwriting and storytelling prowess. “Known for his profound lyrics, soulful vocals, and stellar melodies, we can only expect his journey with us to be an exciting one,” SMP said.
Since opening an office in Lagos, Nigeria, in 2022, with industry vet Godwin Tom as managing director, SMP has overseen a growing lineup of West African acts, including Nigerian stars Wizkid, Tems and Ric Hassani, as well as Ghana’s Sarkodie, M.O.G Beatz and TiTi Owusu.
With their deals, Kachi Annucia and SiGNAL join this impressive cast, aiming to have their compositions managed, promoted, and maximised for commercial potential by the music publishing company.
“Africa has so much talent, culture and uniqueness to share with the rest of the world and I am excited to be a part of the incredible global network of teams that will help build a home for Africa’s best songwriters,” Tom said in the wake of his appointment.
Meanwhile, in June, SMP completed a deal with Ghanaian label Lynx Entertainment, home to established stars like KiDi, Kuami Eugene, Adina and DJ Vyrusky, as well as emerging artists such as Kasar, Maya Blu and DSL.
“With a track record of producing chart-topping hits and fostering the careers of some of Ghana’s most celebrated artists, Lynx Entertainment stands as a beacon of excellence in the global music landscape,” SMP said.
