Zibusiso Makhathini
Bio
Zibusiso Makhathini is a South African, Durban based Jazz Pianist, Composer and Producer. Having grown up around a musical family, music became an inherent attribute that stood out through his childhood which later influenced him to persue music as a career by studying and obtaining a degree in music at the University Of Kwazulu-Natal.
Recently Makhathini made history at the 15th Unisa International Piano Competition by being the first South African to get to the finals. Makhathini won 3rd place alongside Dabin Ryu (South Korea) and Tomas Jonsson (USA)
In 2021 Makhathini featured on The Insider SA on a segment called 'Defying The Norm' after premiering an online concert of an original body of work called 'AfriCanva' on the National Arts Festival via Fringe supported by concerts SA.
