DNA Urbano
Bio
DNA Urbano is a band from Brazil.
DNA Urbano is a style, an attitude, an international, collective musical force of roots rhythms, technology, image and sound to feed the eyes, the ears and the soul. DNA Urbano brings original music and covers to stage like a soundtrack for the African Diaspora in the 21st Century.
The band’s sound originates in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil’s first capital and the country’s greatest incubator of culture. Inspired by the cultures in the favelas, ghettos, "periferias", shanty towns, banlieues, and other centers of Afro-urban culture, DNA Urbano uses English, Portuguese, Haitian Kreole and Yoruba to translate this culture into its lyrics.
DNA Urbano’s contemporary sound, look, and vibe blend Afro-Urban Zen consciousness with beats from Addis Abba to Bamako, with Reggae, Merengue, Soul, Rock and Funk influence added in perfect parts to Bahia’s rich Afro-rhythmic tradition. DNA Urbano’s music entertains while raising self-esteem and self-awareness. You won’t be able to stop dancing!
The band was featured in Salvador, Brazil’s 2017 Carnaval- the world’s largest street carnival- and is currently recording its second album.
