Johannes Theurer
Bio
Johannes Theurer (*1956) is a retired (since 2021) editor and presenter and project manager at Germany's public service station Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB).
Theurer invented and compiled for 29 years the prestigious monthly World Music Charts Europe with 45 World Music radio specialists in 24 European countries. In the European Broadcasting Union, he chaired the World Music Group and organised conferences and concerts. He started presenting his own regular World Music radio show in 1987.
Theurer also deals with the archiving and distribution of music from various cultures. He started the multilingual music online catalogue DISMARC.org that contributes to Europe’s digital heritage library EUROPEANA. Theurer also cooperated with UNHCR for 'Music From Refugees'.
He is a co-founder of Radio Multikulti, which broadcasted music from various cultures in many languages. Theurer has been head of music in Radio Multikulti for 10 years (1994-2003).
