The Band Kokui
Bio
The Band Kokui (TBK) is a multifaceted African music ensemble that primarily focuses on fusing various genres into its signature ‘Afropopera’ sound (Afropopera = African + popular + opera). The group’s repertoire ranges from original pieces to arrangements of folk and traditional Ghanaian music and renditions of contemporary songs.
The group aims to continue with its primary focus of curating African and Afrofusion repertoire for their live performances and studio recordings. In the near future, TBK seeks to appear on music stages beyond the borders of Ghana to educate and entertain audiences across the world.
TBK currently has two EPs available on major streaming platforms: Afropopera Anthology Vol. 1: Negro Spirituals ; and Afropopera Anthology Vol. 2: Ga Heritage. Afropopera Anthology Vol. 3: Rock the Christmas, will be available soon.
