BISOUX translates to kisses in the beautiful language of French!

This cutting-edge jazz quartet emulates the energy carried by its very name, inviting audiences into an engaging creative space to experience an intimate performance delivered with sophistication, passion & incomparable world-class musicality.

The individual experience & consummate expertise of the respective Bisoux band members is extensive and impressive both locally & internationally…including performances with Johnny Fourie, Sibongile Khumalo, Hugh Masekela, Sydney Mavundla, Judith Sephuma, Lira, Zonke, Johnny Clegg, Thandi Nthuli, Andy Narell, Bob Mintzer, Keiko Matsui, Fabrizzio Savino & Katherine Jenkins.

As a BISOUX collective, they have performed for countless high-profile VIP & corporate events & concerts over the past 3 years.

This innovative quartet has also worked with one another in various configurations & projects over many years. The intuitive musical connection that has been honed as a result of many enjoyable hours spent making music together is evident in the way these artists collectively and synergistically create with such natural ease.

WENDY ALLEN TWYFORD fronts the outfit as the lead vocalist with her sultry honeyed tones, funky flair & improvisational zest … adding her unique spice to the mix with light Latin percussion. She has firmly established herself as a respected & recognized artist with her very unique sense of sass, swing and soul for several popular & esteemed jazz outfits over the past 2 plus decades.

Highly acclaimed pianist and keyboardist DR. ROLAND MOSES brings a breath-taking depth of musicianship to the outfit with his lush layers of harmony & hauntingly beautiful melodies. He also provides invaluable musical direction to the band with his ingenious arranging and composing skills. His most recent & notable personal accolade being the winner of the Mzantsi Awards for Best Jazz Song of 2022 – AFRICAN SUN from his solo album “Paths of Light”.

Nigerian born electric & double bassist AMAESHI IKHECHI consistently dishes up a generous dose of musical va va voom with his very engaging stage persona & passionate delivery! His very compelling energy and rich musicality adds a unique African flavour to the melting pot of Bisoux musical influences.

The legendary ROB WATSON, undoubtedly SA’s most sought after session drummer, furtheraugments & perfectly completes the complement on kit - bringing a defining & edgy rhythmic drive to the overall sound

 

THE SOUND. THE REPERTOIRE

Bisoux’s quintessential sound is a cross-over fusion of elements that reinvent the sound of cool jazz, swing, hard bop, modal jazz and the avante garde. Imagery of Ella Fitzgerald, John Coltrane, Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock are reflected in the arrangements and improvisations. The fusion of various elements evolves to create an organic sound with a myriad of soundscapes, swing & deep soulful groove.
