Bio

Affectionately known as Bongofari, Fred Samuel Adjei Crowther is a Ghanaian artist with roots in both the Ashanti and Central Regions. Born on April 3, 1975, to WO 1 Samuel Crawther and Ms Beatrice Mends at the Burma Camp military hospital, Bongofari's educational journey began at the Burma Camp basic school from 1980 to 1992. He continued his education at Ekumfi Asaafa JHS in the Central region in 1995 before excelling at Ghana Armed Forces Technical High in 1999. Subsequently, he pursued Performing Arts at the University of Ghana and furthered his studies in sound engineering at the Ghana Broadcasting Cooperation School.

Bongofari's musical style blends love lyrics in Twi, English, and French, set against pleasing Highlife and reggae rhythms. His notable songs include 'Odo Reggae', 'Cherie Je t’aime', 'I’m Serious', 'Righteousness', and 'Freedom'.

Since 2021, Bongofari has been actively presenting his material at various shows in Accra and Kumasi. He gained exposure at events like the Akwaaba Festival of 2021 and 2022, the Global Citizen and Black Star Line festivals, Panafest 2022 in Cape Coast, and the Emperor Haile Selassie Coronation Day concert in Kumasi in 2022.

Before his career as a performing artist, Bongofari served as a recording engineer, collaborating with notable artists such as Afro Moses, Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Atongo Zimba, BenJerry Telfer, Nana Danso Abiam, Nii Tettey Tetteh of Kusun Ensemble, African Show Boys, and Ebo Taylor. His versatility and unique approach have earned him a spot in events like the Goethe Institute concert in Accra and upcoming performances at the World Cleanup Day concert and the Reggae Dancehall Awards.
