Cultural and Creative Industries Federation of South Africa (CCIFSA)

Bio

The Cultural and Creative Industries Federation of South Africa (CCIFSA) is the controlling body set up with the assistance of the Department of Arts and Culture for cultural and creative sectors in South Africa. It was formed as a non-profit company to promote and develop the social and economic interests of the cultural and creative industries and to act as the controlling body for these sectors. The company is governed by a Board of Directors in accordance with the CCIFSA Memorandum of Incorporation.

The interim Executive Committee was appointed by the Ministry of Arts and Culture on 20 March 2014 with the primary objective of setting up a not-for-profit Cultural and Creative Industries Federation of South Africa. This Federation is meant to be the voice of the cultural and creative industries, representing approximately 12 sectors and 45 sub-sectors.

With a firm commitment from government and strong support in the form of legislature and policy, CCIFSA is positioned favourably to positively impact the creative industries in South Africa. Through the establishment of a powerful, cohesive governing body, the creative and cultural industries are now on a firm footing that will ensure it can contribute more meaningfully to the economic and social advancement of this country. CCIFSA encourages all South Africans to support the organisation in its mission to empower the industry that plays the greatest role in defining and expressing the identity of the people and the nation.
